The Effective Manager (Anyone Can Do It)

The Effective Manager (Anyone Can Do It)

Some are extroverts, some are morbidly shy.
Some are fat and some are lean.
Some are worriers, and some are relaxed.
Some drink quite heavily, some are total abstainers.
Some are of great charm and warmth, some have no more personality than a frozen mackerel.
Some you would consider a “leader”, some are bland and colorless.
Some are scholars and serious students, some have little formal schooling.
Some have broad interests, some know nothing but their own narrow areas.
Some are self-centered, even selfish, some are generous of heart and mind.
Some live for their work and others’ main interests lie outside - in community work, church, Chinese poetry, or in modern music.
Some use logic and analysis, and some use perception and intuition.
Some make decisions easily, and some suffer agonies doing so.

It’s not who you are, it’s how you behave.

“effectiveness is a habit, a complex of practices. And practices can be learned.”
-Peter Drucker, The Effective Executive

As organizations growth in size and experience, management must come to the realization that the way the business has operated so far internally, won’t necessarily ensure future success for the organization.

The more time and experience an organization earns, the more refined the organization and its people must be.
